Nepal plane crash kills 23 on board

A Tara Air plane carrying 23 people crashed on Wednesday in a mountainous region of northern Nepal.

Nepali Tourism and Aviation Minister Ananda Pokharel said the crash killed everyone on board.

The official said a few bodies have been found but are unrecognizable.

Tara Air spokesman Bhim Rai said the plane took off Wednesday morning from the city of Pohhara scheduled to land in the town of Jomsom.

BBC reports that the plane was carrying 3 crew members and 20 passengers, a Chinese and a Kuwait citizen.

Director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Sanjiv Gautam told BBC that the plane wreckage was found near Dana village in Myagdi district. He said the plane lost contact with the control tower at Pokhara 10 minutes after take-off.

The identity of the passengers are yet to be released. Two of them were children.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
